Looking for Ninja Creami recipes? This strawberry cheesecake protein ice cream is so macro friendly that the serving size is the entire pint of ice cream!

Let’s acknowledge the contraption that makes the ice cream.  It’s the Ninja creami ice cream maker. It is one of the best inventions of all time. You can make regular ice cream and shakes but what’s so great is you can make healthy high protein ice cream that is just as delicious as the real thing. It’s wild. I thought it was just another over-hyped social media trend and ignored it for six months. I finally caved when I saw I could get a basic model (that’s all you need) at Walmart. I ordered it and got it in a few days.

The only downside to this recipe is you have to freeze the mixture for 24 hours. That’s how it goes for all the ice cream made with the creami. To make it less frustrating, I bought extra creami containers and make several flavors at once and keep them in the freezer and mix one up as needed. Just like you’d keep ice cream stored in the freezer. Plan ahead and you’ll always have your healthy ice cream on hand.

What Elso do I Need to get?

This recipe calls for a couple other things you probably don’t have on hand and that’s vanilla protein powder and Fairlife milk. For protein powder, I love the brand Clean Simple Eats. You can use my coupon code LAURENBOWER for an additional 10% off. The reason you want Fairlife milk is it packs more protein than cow’s milk and is lactose-free. It’s sold at all major grocery chains. I also recommend a blender bottle for most recipes for mixing. This particular recipe you need an actual blender for the strawberries, but usually I go the blender bottle route for easier cleanup.

What’s protein ice cream like?

Now about this strawberry cheesecake ice cream. The recipe makes a creamy strawberry ice cream with hunks of Nilla wafers, cream cheese and a swirl of strawberries. The serving size is the entire pint of ice cream (cue the angles singing). The texture of all the creami lite ice creams comes out like a blizzard if you do all the cycles. The first cycle is “lite ice cream.” This cycle turns the rock-solid frozen ice cream into a hard ice cream like you would get at a scoop ice cream shop. Add a little liquid and run on the second “re-spin” cycle and you get really creamy ice cream similar to soft serve. Then add your mix ins and run the third “mix ins” cycle and you get a consistency similar to a blizzard or McFlurry.

Tips for the Best Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream

  • Freeze for the full 24 hours. Make a bunch at once and this won’t be quite as annoying.
  • You’ll notice the edges of the ice cream don’t get mixed perfectly, if you run hot water around the outside of your container before running it in the machine that can help.
  • If you like larger hunks of mix-ins, then don’t run the “mix-ins” cycle and just mix by hand.
