Why You’ll Love This Caramel Apple Dip

This recipe takes everything you love about a caramel apple and makes it dippable! A smooth cream cheese base gets whipped with brown sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Then it’s layered with a rich, buttery caramel made from Werther’s chewy caramels, water, and heavy whipping cream.

Finish it off with salted peanuts and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for that perfect sweet-and-salty crunch. Pair it with crisp Granny Smith apple slices or pretzel crisps for the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 28 Werther’s chewy caramels, unwrapped

  • 1 tablespoons water

  • 1 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

  • ⅓ cup salted peanuts, chopped
  • Flaky salt, for topping
  • Granny Smith apples and pretzel crisps, for serving

How to Make Caramel Apple Dip

  1. Make the Cream Cheese Layer

In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with brown sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread it evenly in the bottom of a shallow dish or pie plate.

  2. Make the Caramel

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the Werther’s caramels and water. Microwave in two 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted and smooth and finish with 5-10 seconds of necessary (about 70 seconds total). Add the heavy whipping cream and stir until fully combined.

  3. Assemble the Dip

Pour the warm caramel over the cream cheese mixture and spread it into an even layer.

  4. Add the Crunch

Sprinkle chopped salted peanuts and a pinch of flaky sea salt over the top.

  5. Serve

Serve immediately with tart Granny Smith apples or salty pretzel crisps for dipping.

Tips for the Best Caramel Apple Dip

  • Soften your cream cheese: Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes for the smoothest texture.
  • Use chewy caramels: Werther’s are creamy and melt beautifully without getting grainy.
  • Don’t skip the salt: The flaky sea salt balances the sweetness and makes every bite pop.
  • Make ahead: this is best served immediately but if you want to prepare it a few hours in advance cover the dip tightly with cling wrap and add the peanuts and flaky salt just before serving.
