This Crispy Baked Boursin with Hot Honey is the perfect appetizer to make that will wow guests but takes very little effort to prepare. Boursin is a soft, creamy, spreadable French cheese known for it’s tanginess. For this recipe we use their “garlic and herb” flavor. While it’s perfectly delicious right out of the package, going a step further to bread, bake and drizzle with hot honey takes it over the top.
What’s great is the cheese is ready to go right out of the refrigerator. Just remove it from its foil packaging, dredge in flour, egg and panko and bake in a deep pie plate! It’s that easy! The pie plate is great because you won’t have to transfer to a serving dish. Just throw crackers directly into the plate right out of the oven. The residual heat warms up the crackers which is the total cherry on top.
The hot honey is made with just three ingredients: honey, cayenne and kosher salt. You can always use a storebought hot honey that you like to make things even easier. If you decide to make it, know that the recipe only calls for 1/4 tsp per 1 tablespoon of honey. That won’t be enough to feel a real “kick” — up the amount of cayenne to a 1/2 teaspoon if you really want to notice it. Once drizzled with the hot honey sprinkle with flaky sea salt and serve immediately. Be prepared to make another one because this goes quickly!
I like to serve with Ritz toasted chip crackers. That’s my favorite cracker for dips including my most viral dip, whipped goat cheese with candied bacon and dates.
