Wassail is what holiday joy is made of. It’s a sweet apple cider enhanced with orange juice, lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks and spices. I threw a party last year and served this, we went through three batches, and it still wasn’t enough. I had a line all night wanting refills. Not only is it delicious and nostalgic but the aromatics are amazing. It makes your whole house smell SO GOOD. I’m so glad my mother-in-law brought the tradition of wassail over the holidays into my life. It’s that extra umph you’re looking for to set the holiday season apart. Have Fireball nearby for the adults. The only thing better than Wassail is spiked Wassail.

Tips for the Best Wassail

  • Use apple cider and NOT apple juice. They are not interchangeable.
  • The picture shows cloves floating in the cider, I just like that picture the most and thought it looked the prettiest. You definitely want to add the cloves to a full orange (puncture into the skin of the orange) and not to the crockpot.
  • Use orange slices, cranberries or cinnamon sticks as a garnish.

Wassail

Wassail is all the holiday feels in a cup. This should be at every holiday party moving forward. It's a sweet apple cider with the volume turned way up. Pairs perfectly with cinnamon whiskey.
