Cheesy one pot pasta is a one pot meal that can be put together quickly featuring cavatappi, doctored up Rao’s jarred marinara and burrata cheese. The cavatappi is the perfect noodle for this dish. It looks like a corkscrew and the sauce and cheese cling to it. Be sure to use that pasta! It makes all the difference.

This is a perfect weeknight meal for the family however it tastes like it took hours to make.  These types of one pot meals are a life saver when I want a nice dinner but don’t want anything complicated or that will create a ton of dishes in the sink. This is a hearty, meaty, cheesy pasta dish. The meat sauce is not complicated and utilizes Rao’s jarred marinara. By letting the sauce simmer for an hour, the flavor develops. You’ll never know you used the jarred sauce short cut. The melted burrata cheese on top is next level. This meal will definitely make it into your rotation.

Tips for the Best Cheesy One Pot Pasta

 

  • Break up the ground chuck and sweet Italian sausage withe a meat masher. It’s a life changing kitchen tool.
  • Check on your pasta often and make sure there’s enough liquid in the pot. You don’t want it to burn on bottom. Stir often.
  • Don’t get scared with the cooking time once the noodles go into the sauce. They won’t get over done. If you’re worried just check on it and taste a noodle.

Cheesy One Pot Pasta Recipe

Cheesy One Pot Pasta is a meaty cheesy dish made with cavatappi noodles. Everything is made in the same pot from start to finish. The sauce is my easy shortcut meat sauce utilizing the best jarred marinara, Rao's. This is both easy and comforting.

Ingredients
  

Easy Meat Sauce

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 onion diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 jars Rao’s marinara
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Cheesy One Pot Pasta

  • 1 lb cavatappi
  • 2 1/2 C water divided
  • 3 balls of burrata cheese
  • prepared meat sauce

Instructions
 

  • Brown your meat and onions together over medium heat for 15-20 minutes. You want the meat to caramelize.
  • Add the garlic and cook a 2 minutes.
  • Deglaze with the pot with balsamic vinegar. Scrape up the brown bits on bottom.
  • Add the Rao’s, sugar and spices, stir, turn heat to low, cover and let simmer for 1 hour.
  • To the pot of sauce add 1 C of water and your cavatappi. Stir and set heat to high. Once it reaches a boil, turn heat down to just under medium, cover for 15 minutes.
  • Add 1 1/2 C of water, stir and cover and cook 10 minutes.
  • Add burrata cheese on top. Cover and let it melt for 10 minutes. Stir and serve.

Notes

I used my favorite noodle, cavatappi! Highly recommend trying this out. You can also add more Burrata cheese if you like it extra cheesy!
