Tips for the Best Berry Chantilly Trifle

● Make sure your cream cheese, mascarpone, and eggs are at room temperature for the smoothest texture.

● Thoroughly dry the berries after washing to prevent excess moisture.

● Don’t overmix the pound cake batter once the flour is added.

● Chill the assembled trifle before serving so the flavors can meld together.

● For the freshest presentation, enjoy this dessert the same day you assemble it.

Storage

This dessert is best enjoyed the day it’s made. For the best texture and appearance, serve it within about 2 hours after chilling.

If you have leftovers, cover tightly and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. The berries will continue to release juices and the cake will soften over time, but it will still taste delicious.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes and no! Bake the pound cake a day in advance and prepare the chantilly cream ahead of time. But hold off on assembling the trifle until 1–2 hours before serving for the freshest texture.

Can I use store-bought pound cake?

Absolutely. While homemade pound cake gives the richest flavor, a quality store-bought pound cake works well if you’re short on time.

Can I freeze it?

Freezing isn’t recommended. The fresh berries and mascarpone cream don’t maintain their texture once thawed.
