For $22 per slice, I’m glad I figured out how to make this loaded banana cream pie at home. My grandma’s recipe calls for a meringue topping so I left that off and added the whipped cream like the hotel’s version. Definitely make homemade whipped cream with heavy whipping cream, vanilla and sugar. I think it would have been even better. Also use bananas with absolutely no green in them — not even on the stem. You need that developed flavor in the bananas. This dessert is truly stunning.
