I don’t come from a family that cooks. I have a few recipes from my grandmothers and that’s about it. I’m self taught and went to the university of the Food Network. I became obsessed with Paula Deen and Ina Garten as a pregnant newlywed in 2006. Those two inspired me to dig deep in the kitchen and find my own style.

I started making other people’s recipes to learn flavor combinations, what I liked, what I hated, and how to make things better for my family and our taste. Over the years I was tweaking recipes so much, they were no longer recognizable to the original cook and I realized I was creating and not just cooking anymore. It was time to share my food with the world and what better time than during a worldwide pandemic that closed all restaurants and forced people into the kitchen? Cooklikeamother was born on TikTok followed by Instagram in 2020.
